» Shaka - Band History

Between the years 1992 and 1995 Shaka makes it’s debut in the European music arena. After placing the two hit songs "Shaka" and "Angel" in the top ranks of the Austrian National Music Charts, the group gains first national, then international recognition. Performing in concert and clubs in Austria leads the group to further engagements throughout Europe.

In 1995 a change in musical directions forces the band to break up. Reduced to the two founding members, Stefan Kraushofer (lead vocal, guitars) and Christian Heinemann (guitar, vocals) Shaka keeps performing under the original band name in clubs throughout Europe. Between the years of 1995 and 1998 the duo slowly shifts their main focus from performing to musical development and a new style is created - often term as "distinctly Shaka" in the industry.

In 1998 new band members - Max Gusenbauer (keyboards, saxophone, vocals), Harald Steininger (bass), and Patrick Hoefler (keyboard, synth., organ, vocals) – join the band, and songs such as "Behind your eyes" and "Deep Blue" are recorded on their first album "Shaka". With the addition of Nik Wiesmayer (drums) Shaka reaches it’s current size in 2002.
